After completing his studies as a medical doctor in 1993 at the University of Pretoria, Dr Röscher spent a length of time practicing in the UK. He began to develop an interest in Skin Care and Dermatology, and commenced the study of Dermatology in 1996, completing his degree in the year 2000.
...An extensive postgraduate at the University of Newcastle in Dermatological Surgery laid the foundation for his career. This division of Dermatology relates to surgery, cancer surgery, procedures, lasers and aesthetic procedures, including Botox and fillers.
He also completed post graduate degrees in Photodynamic Therapy in Nashville, USA, as well as Laser Surgery in Charlotte, USA.
Dr Röscher founded and directed the Dermatological Surgery Program at the Department of Dermatology, UKZN from 2006 – 2012. This was done in conjunction with Professor Aboobaker, the Head of the Department of Dermatology at the (then) Nelson Mandela School of Medicine, whose vision for this unique discipline was essential and highly appreciated. It was South Africa’s first division of Dermatological Surgery that trained dermatology residents in this discipline and continues to this day.
Dr Röscher was founder and president of the South African Society for Dermatological Surgery (SASDS) for 4 years. This SASDS conducts training and specialist education around Dermatological Surgery in South Africa.
Internationally, he serves on the faculty of the IMCAS and DASIL conference platforms and has delivered numerous papers on these and other platforms. He was also cofounder and eventual president of the DASIL international League of Dermatological and Aesthetic society in 2016.
Dr Röscher is passionate and dedicated to public service and does extensive pro-bono skin cancer screenings and treatments for indigent suffers. This is done via the platforms of TRIOMF, which is a public service medical facility group that serves specific charities. He cofounded the South African Skin Cancer Foundation, which presents annually at top level educational meetings to skin care physicians and interest health care professionals. Furthermore, this foundation executes a National Skin Cancer Screening day every September. Free skin cancer screenings are offered to the public via participating dermatologists.
