Dr. Derek R. Odendaal

Since 2000, Dr. Odendaal has been in private dermatology practice in Port Elizabeth, specializing in dermatologic, Mohs, and laser surgery. He is a past President of the South African Society for Dermatologic Surgery (SASDS) and a co-founder of the South African Society of Mohs Surgery. He also established his own Mohs histopathology lab in 2018.

A respected leader in his field, Dr. Odendaal serves on the EXCO committees of both the Dermatology Society of South Africa and the Dermatologic Surgery Society of South Africa. He has also held roles as Vice President of the Assembly of National Associated Societies (ANAS) and as a board member of the Dermatology Aesthetic and Surgical International League (DASIL). Additionally, he is an active member of the International Traveling Mentorship Program (ITMP) and has worked as a trainer for Allergan Cosmetics in South Africa.

Dr. Odendaal is a sought-after speaker at both national and international conferences, particularly on skin cancer surgery. For over 15 years, he has been training fellow dermatologists in advanced dermatologic surgery and was instrumental in developing South Africa’s short course diploma in basic and advanced dermatologic surgery.

Residing in Port Elizabeth, he is married and a proud father of three.
